Parvez Sultan, M.D.
Dr. Sultan received his medical degree from Brown University School of Medicine after receiving his undergraduate degree from Hampshire College. Dr. Sultan began his surgical training at the University of Texas at Houston, Hermann Hospital and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He completed his General Surgical training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Medical Center. Dr. Sultan completed a Mini-Fellowship in Thoracic Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and a Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University in St. Louis. He also trained in Lung and Heart Transplantation at Barnes-Jewish Hospital under Dr. Joel Cooper and Dr. Alec Patterson. Among other Honors and Awards, Dr. Sultan was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and Sigma Xi Medical Research Medical Honor Society while at Brown University School of Medicine. He joined Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons P.C. in 2006.
Dr. Sultan specializes in adult heart, lung and vascular surgery with expertise in all aspects of Adult Cardiac Surgery, Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, Complex Aortic Surgery, Cardiac Assist Devices, Maze Procedure, Lung Resections, VATS Lobectomy, Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery, Esophageal Surgery (Benign and Malignant), Lung Volume Reduction Surgery, Pulmonary Thromboembolectomy and Endovascular Repair of Thoracic Aneurysms, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Carotid Surgery, Endovascular-Aneurysm Repair and Robotic Surgery.
Dr. Sultan is certified in Thoracic Surgery by The American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is also boarded by The American Board of Surgery.
Besides being a partner of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons, P.C., for the past 15 years, Dr. Sultan is an active member of The Heart Valve Society of America, International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery, American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Surgeons and The Stanley J. Sarnoff Society of Cardiovascular Research. Dr. Sultan is member of Ascension St. Vincent’s Birmingham medical staff.
